Plagiarism
Plagiarism has become a big topic in the life of education recently. It is something that many teachers have let slide, but now with this new age of technology it is becoming more and more important to make sure students are learning the material and not just copying and pasting from a website. If I was ever accused of Plagiarism I think my initial reaction would be defensive. I would go back and see if I truly meant to copy something from a website just to get a good grade and take someone else's idea and call it my own. I would feel offended by the conviction, but if I knew it was true then I believe I would feel guilty more than anything else. My parents would respond with an investigation type attitude. They would want to find out everything and then decide whether or not they believed I was being truthful or not. If I was caught Plagiarizing then my parents would be very disappointed and frustrated especially if it cost me a big test grade in a class. My parents paying tuition should affect the type of education I receive. I believe it has nothing to do with whether or not a get a passing grade or not. I should not get better treatment because I pay to go to school, but I should be held to a higher standard of learning the material and striving to do my best in every class. The story gave me a new perspective on plagiarism. It made me think about how serious that it really is becoming to copy things from the internet and use them as there own. I think this will be a very big topic for the years to come, and this is becoming the new form of cheating especially in colleges. It is something that need to be addressed as right or wrong in a school and in a classroom by a teacher so every student understands the severity of Plagiarism.
