The Innocent put on Death Row

The topic of our judicial system on death row has never really been a favored one. Death row is a hard thing in our country to most people. It is the highest punishment for a crime committed by a person. Could it be that we focus more on how harsh it is than who is being put on death row. No judge and jury are perfect, and there will always be wholes in the system, but there are too many stories of innocent men or women being put on death row. American people do not need to be judgmental people, but we should be a people that truly believe in "innocent till proven guilty." It is something that our courts are based off of, and it is a very unique perspective compared to other countries. Our system of punishment is one of the most civilized ways in the world, but what about the innocent people that are put on death row. Many people including the story of the South Carolina man named Edward Lee Elmore have been innocent and put on death row. Luckily, after 30 years of being on death row Elmore's' case was looked at by a group of lawyers. They found that the evidence in the case was persuading on the side of innocence. They brought it to a judges attention and he was freed. There are so many stories of different men and women who the judicial system has failed on. Nothing is perfect, but we as a free people should at least bring awareness to the topic of innocent people being killed. I pray that we never become a people that only care about ourselves and our own well being!
